In both cases, your dashboard will feature an E-Selec system with three modes to choose from, Electric, Hybrid, and eSave. In Electric mode, your vehicle will be able to drive totally emissions-free by drawing power solely from the battery pack. The Wrangler 4xe has an electric range of up to 21 miles, while the Grand Cherokee 4xe’s is rated at up to 25 miles. In Hybrid mode, your vehicle will use the battery power and the gas power at the same time, giving you the most torque, and letting you enjoy the total driving range of up to 370 miles for the Wrangler, or 470 miles for the Grand Cherokee. Lastly, eSave mode will let you save your battery power for later by prioritizing the gas tank, and then switching over to Electric mode automatically when gas runs low.

Jeep makes it easy for you to stay fully charged, with the help of the available Jeep Level II charging cable. This cable can fully charge your battery in just two hours! Even with the original cable, you can charge up your PHEV overnight. There are also two great options for your home charging port. You can choose the portable option, which plugs into your wall at any outlet you’d like, or the hard-wired version that’s directly connected to your house’s electrical system. In both cases, your home station can connect to your Wi-Fi so you can monitor your charging status remotely, and get notifications about when it’s the best and most cost-efficient time to charge!

Even though the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe have a different powertrain setup than the versions we’ve seen in the past, they still deliver all of the great off-road capabilities that you can expect from a Jeep! For example, the Wrangler 4xe has a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. The Rubicon trim comes with the robust Rock-Trac 4X4 system, while all three trim levels feature standard 4-wheel drive. The Rubicon 4xe also comes with locking differentials, all-terrain tires, and a front disconnecting sway bar. Despite the electric motors, wiring, and battery pack, the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe can both handle water-fording because all of their electric elements are waterproof-sealed. The Wrangler can take on up to 31.5 inches of depth! The Grand Cherokee 4xe’s lineup features the Trailhawk, which is similarly equipped to the Rubicon with features like front tow hooks, underbody skid plates, and all-terrain tires.
